The very first chapter of the manual (System Setup) will show you how to put the right settings in place before you go live with My Vision Express. It is, by far, the longest chapter and its sheer size should give you an indication of its importance. The proper setup of the application is extremely important in order to guarantee its efficient day-to-day use. Take your time to review each item on this section carefully. You will find that they are organized in much the same order in which you need to set them up within the software itself.
The second chapter covers a few operational features of the program related to security and employee functions. These are relatively simple and will become part of the daily routine for all the users on the system.
Chapters 3 through 9 cover the core functionality of the application. The database that ships with My Vision Express contains a few fictitious records for demonstration purposes. It would be a good idea, even before attempting setup, to work with the demo data to get a feel for what each setup item affects. Once you have a feeling for how the application works, this demo data can be easily removed at the click of a button.
When you get to reporting (Chapter 10), you should check the section on Reports Use so that you can become familiar with how reports are generated and the different options that you would get in terms of search criteria, layout, sorting, filtering, printing, emailing, etc. Create a list of the reports that you would like to have and check the last section on that chapter, Report Groups, to learn how to group them together and run them more efficiently.
The remaining chapters cover Miscellaneous Features (Chapter 11) and interfaces (Chapters 12 - 16).
NOTE: The Inventory Setup section on Chapter 1 contains both setup and operation instructions. Inventory setup and operation are so intertwined that they cannot be separated.
