Installation Instructions

Some anti-virus and firewall programs may interfere with the installation. Before starting the installation, you may want to turn off anti-virus and firewall programs until the installation is completed.

If you are installing My Vision Express from a DVD, load the disc into a DVD drive and wait for the autorun screen (Fig. 1) to appear. From the menu to the right, select the option to ‘Install My Vision Express’. If you downloaded the setup utility from our website, simply double click on it to execute it.

You will then be prompted to select the type of installation that you want to perform.

If this is your server/main computer and this is the first time that you install My Vision Express on it, proceed as follows:

1.   Select ‘Full Install’ and allow the installation wizard to run.

2.   You may be prompted to perform certain system updates. If so, click Update and wait until the updates are completed.

3.   Click Next to read the License Agreement.

4.   Check the ‘I accept the terms’ checkbox in the ‘License Agreement’ screen and click Next.

5.   My Vision Express will display the default installation path. Unless you have very specific reasons to specify your own path, we recommend that you accept the default. Click Next.

6.   After the installation is completed you might be prompted to restart the computer.

NOTE: If you are installing on one computer only, you should follow the steps outlined above for server/main computers.

Client computers are all the other computers (aside from the server/main computer) on the network that will be running My Vision Express. Before installing the client application, make sure the server/main computer is on the network and is accessible to client computers. You may need to configure the firewall on the server/main computer to allow remote connections to the Microsoft SQL Server. For client computers, proceed as follows:

1.   Select ‘Client/Upgrade Install’.

2.   Select ‘Full Install’ and allow the installation wizard to run.

3.   You may be prompted to perform certain system updates. If so, click Update and wait until the updates are completed.

4.   Click Next to read the License Agreement.

5.   Check the ‘I accept the terms’ checkbox in the License Agreement screen and click Next.

6.   My Vision Express will display the default installation path. Unless you have very specific reasons to specify your own path, we recommend that you accept the default. Click Next.

7.   After the installation is completed you might be prompted to restart the computer.

NOTE: We do not provide support on network issues such as setting up shared directories on your network. Check with your network technician if you need further assistance.
