Q. What do I need to do in order to generate ANSI 837 DMERC claims?
A. You generate DMERC claims the same way as you generate other ANSI 837 claims.
You need to create a claim in the Insurance/Claim Screen. Fill in the proper information.
You can use 'Other' for the Insurance Type (Item #1 in the Patient tab) or you can create another insurance type in the Setup | Categories, the category being Insurance Type. Name your new insurance type as 'DMERC'.
For the PIN (Item #33 in the Provider Tab), put in your DMERC number. There is a dropdown for the PIN. If your DMERC number is not there, you can add it. You can add it the same way as you might add another PIN such as Blue Cross Blue Shield. But you have to specify 'DMERC' as the insurance type instead of 'Blue Cross Blue Shield'.

Q. My DMERC claim was rejected. It said invalid provider number. However that is the correct provider number that we have. Do you think there can be a problem with that?
A. Your provider number has to be accurate to the last digit. It may be possible that there are missing zeros at the end or in the middle part of the provider number. Make sure you count the number of digits that you have typed in the PIN, and compare that with the provider number that has been given to you by the insurance company. This applies to all types of claims, including DMERC claims.
