Blocking out Time Slots in the Calendar

Q: In the calendar how do I block out recurring lunch hours?

A: To block out recurring lunch hours we have to modify the physician’s availability. 

      To create recurring availability exceptions:

1.  Follow the item menu sequence … File | Setup | Physician.

2.  Highlight the Physician you want to modify the availability for by clicking on their record.

3.  Click on the Availability Tab.

4.  Click on the Time-Day Combo Slots that the physician will not be available and choose the Not Available Service.  If you wish this to appear as lunch on the calendar we have to create a Service named Lunch then you will be able to choose that Service.

5.  Click Save on the menu toolbar.

NOTE: Although this appears as Not Available/Lunch on the calendar you can still schedule appointments during this time slot if you wish.

      To create a Lunch Service:

6.  Follow the item menu sequence … File | Inventory | Services.

7.  Click the Add Button.

8.  In the Category drop-down list select Services.

9.  Name your Service “Lunch”.

10. Uncheck the Inventory Checkbox located under the UPC Textbox, and check the Calendar Checkbox.

11. Specify the duration of your Lunch hours and select the color you wish this service to appear on your calendar.

12. Click OK.
