Chapter 1: System Setup

Insurance

This screen is used to capture all the Insurance Companies whose insurance you accept. This is where you would enter the contact and insurance submission information. All the insurance companies that you enter here are displayed throughout the application under the Insurance Company drop-down list.

 

      To add Insurance Companies:

1.  Follow the menu sequence … File | Setup | Insurance.

2.  In the Insurance Screen click the Add Button located on the upper right part of the screen.

3.  Enter the Insurance Company’s information in the corresponding text fields and check or uncheck the Active Box as appropriate.

4.  In the HCFA/CMS 1500 section select the corresponding Insurance Type from the drop-down list.

5.  To delete an insurance company highlight the desired company and click the Delete Button.

6.  If you have the Eyefinity Interface,  you can click the Import from Eyefinity Button to import insurance information for valid eyefinity payers. 

7.  When you click Import from Eyefinity Button, the Eyefinity Insurance Carrier Screen is displayed.  Before this list is populated it must be downloaded from Eyefinity from the Company Information –VSP Tab.  Follow the menu item sequence … File | Setup | Company Information, then click on the VSP Tab and click the Refresh List Button.  In the Refresh List Screen click the Request Insurance Carrier List to download the list. 

8.  In the Eyefinity Insurance Carrier Screen select the insurance company you wish to import then click the Import Button.  The import information will include the Insurance Company name and Payer ID.  This will save you time entering in insurance companies and having to research their Payer ID.  

NOTE: When using this Eyefinity option assure that you have clicked the Add Button on the Insurance Screen and created a new record.  If you are currently focused on another insurance record and use this import feature it will overwrite the insurance record that is currently in focus.

9.  To add an insurance plan to a corresponding insurance company click the Plans Button.  For more information on creating insurance plans see the Insurance Plans Topic

10. If you would like to add another Insurance Company go to step 2, otherwise click Save then Close from the menu toolbar.
