The Procedure Code Screen allows you to add procedure codes which are required when processing insurance claims, the most commonly used procedure codes are included in My Vision Express. Procedure Codes are used in the following areas of the software:
• Applicable insurance procedure codes are assigned to services and/or products. All the information defined for the procedure code is automatically brought into the corresponding fields for the product or service when filling insurance claims.
• For orders, procedure codes are automatically entered when the service or product sold has been assigned a procedure code.
• For insurance, procedure codes are available under CPT/HCPCS. They are automatically entered if the insurance is filled from an order and the items in the order have been assigned a procedure code.
• To create new Procedure Codes:
1. Follow the menu item sequence … File | Setup | Procedure Codes.
2. In the Procedure Code Screen click the Add Button located on the upper right part of the screen.
3. In the Code text box, enter the number of the new Procedure Code.
4. In the Description text box, enter the description of the new Procedure Code.
5. Choose the type of product on the Type drop-down list.
6. Then select the diagnosis code(s) you would like to associate the Procedure Code with. You can choose up to four different codes.
7. If you want to deactivate a Procedure Code uncheck the Active Box.
8. To delete a procedure code highlight the appropriate procedure code and click the Delete Button located below the Add Button.
9. If you would like to add another Procedure Code go to step 2, otherwise click Save then Close from the menu toolbar.
